CMS Web Building

Want a CMS but don’t know how to get started?  I offer a setup and installation service!

Whether you’re looking to have your first website built or you’re looking to give an existing website a facelift, there are plenty of options to choose from.  My emphasis is always on “high-quality low-price” options, using “out of the box” CMS solutions.

So, what is an “out of the box” CMS?  It’s a pre-written Content Management System that allows you to create and maintain a website using a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor - similar to using Microsoft Word or desktop publishing software - so it requires little or no technical skills! CMS’s usually have a range of designs and add-ons available to suit your business needs.

Many CMS packages come with an “Open Source” license, which means they are free to use & adapt - you just need your web hosting & domain name.

Here are a few examples…

  • Wordpress - You may have heard of Wordpress as a tool for bloggers (people who keep an online journal - either personal or business) but it’s so much more than that!  This website, for example, is a Wordpress website.  It’s highly customisable, with thousands of different templates to choose from and a multitude of gadgets and gismoz!  As with anything, there’s a bit of a learning curve, but there are a number of tutorials and guides available.  Wordpress is a FREE website solution, so the only costs are web hosting and your domain name.  I offer a Wordpress Installation Service.
  • Joomla - Joomla is best known as a Content Management System, but it can easily be integrated with shopping basket add-ons such as VirtueMart.  Again, there’s a learning curve but I offer a  Joomla installation service to help you get started.  Again, Joomla is a free website solution.
  • Magento - Magento is one of the more recent “out of the box” solutions and it’s fast becoming one of my favourites for e-commerce sites.  Magento websites are slick and the templates are modern.  Once again, I offer a  Magento installation service .  And guess what?  Magento is yet another free website solution!
  • Template Websites - There are some pretty awful website templates out there… but there are also some extremely professional and eye-catching designs.   In order to setup and maintain a website from a template, you will need to be comfortable with web programming skills such as CSS and HTML.  I recommend Template Monster for a range of professional templates.
