About

I’m a web developer by trade but, after having my first child in 2005, decided to leave employment in order to “live the dream” of self-employment and working-from-home!  I started my first online business in February 2006 and since then have developed countless websites and online ventures for myself, and have offered advice and assistance to others who are doing the same.

I had always felt that starting an online business was incredibly easy and low-cost, but I’ve realised over time that it feels that way to me because I’m able to develop websites myself.  It’s not so easy and inexpensive for those who are having to negotiate the minefield of choosing a web team to design and develop your website for you!  This is especially the case if you find internet jargon a bit mystifying and you’re not familiar with the technologies and options available to you.   How do you know if the quotes you’re getting are reasonable quotes?  How can you be sure that the website you’re being offered is what you need, if you don’t understand the terminology?

And what if you’re trying to create a website on a shoestring budget? You may not even realise it’s possible, but it IS!  It’s possible to get an e-commerce enabled website full of YOUR products including your own domain name and web hosting for a whole year … for less than £10.

So, I decided to create this website for three main reasons:

  • Firstly, to help demystify some of the jargon out there.  Even if you don’t fancy creating and updating your own website, you’ll get on FAR better with your web team if you can understand each other!
  • Secondly, to share knowledge of the free and low cost ways to get your business online.
  • Thirdly, to offer assistance to those who need it - whether you need help to get your website up and running, or you just want some changes made every now and then.  Get in touch and let me know what you need and I’ll give you a no-obligation quote … and I promise all my communications will be in plain English, not geek-speak :)

You can browse my blog using the links on the right hand side.  Here you’ll find information, tips and advice - and all for free!
